Palermo-Catania HC Rail Line, Fiumetorto-Lercara Junction (Lot 1+2) | Italy
Completed in: in progress

Lot 1+2 Fiumetorto–Lercara Diramazione is part of the Palermo–Catania railway line, commissioned by RFI (part of the FS Italiane Group). The project involves the executive design and construction of a new 30 km railway section.
The contract includes the construction of 20 km of tunnels, twin-tube tunnels and single-track, more than 2 km of railway viaducts, more than 7 km of connecting roads and three railway stations: the new Valle Torto station to be built, and the Cerda and Lercara stations to be upgraded.
During construction, special systems will be implemented for the recovery and reuse of water, including both, rainwater and process water used in industrial operations. Four Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) will be used for tunnel excavation. The stations will be equipped with systems designed to improve water efficiency and enabling the collection and reuse of stormwater.
Seli Overseas is part of the Consortium — led by Webuild that includes also Pizzarotti, Ghella, and Tunnelpro and responsible for the final design and execution of the works.SELI Overseas is committed for tunnelling activities in this project and brings specific skills to bear in the excavation of tunnels using TBMs.
