EPB TBM technology is also extended to rock tunnels, completing this difficult hydroelectric project on schedule.
Before SELI Overseas undertook this job, EPB TBMs were used to make tunnels in urban areas and under low overburdens.
In the excavation of the El Alto tunnel, SELI Overseas successfully tested the EPB TBM excavation of a tunnel in mixed formations, with alternating rock, fault zones and loose soil.
